WHO IS LYING TO THE PRESIDENT ???
AMB HUSSAINI H. COOMASSIE WROTE:
The PRESIDENT might have announced the lifting of the LOCKDOWN on the strength of a lie and we demand to know who exactly is behind that? For crying out loud we have been locked down for about 5 weeks today.
I remembered vividly prior to the LOCKDOWN, Federal Min of Health/NCDC/COVID-19 COMMITTEE, made a promise of testing 1,500 persons daily, times 4 weeks (28 days) is 42,000 persons.
Then how comes with all the financial, Man Power & Technical support The Federal Ministry of Health & National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) got, they can only boast of testing just a little above 10,000 in 5 weeks, with over 2,000 tested positive so far.
I THINK FEDERAL GOVERNMENT SHOULD FIRST AND FOREMOST CONSIDER THE LIVES OF NIGERIANS BEFORE THINKING OF LIFTING THE LOCKDOWN ORDER, FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE FEW. BUSINESSES CLOSED DOWN FOR EVEN 3 MONTHS OR MORE CAN REOPEN, BUT A CLOSED CASKET CAN NEVER BE OPENED.
SOMETIMES, WE MUST CHOOSE BETWEEN TWO EVILS. INDEED BAD ARRANGEMENTS Have the ability to KILL MORE NIGERIANS THAN COVID.-19!
WRONG ORGANIZATION WILL HASTEN THE SPEED AND DEPTH OF THE SPREAD OF THE VIRUS!
How and why should the lockdown be eased when the figures have just started to multiply???
Yes, we are all aware of the difficulties posed by the present economic meltdown, caused by the lockdown in force in parts of the nation, to curbe and slow the spread of the deadly Coronavirus; we also understand the effects of the lockdown on the common man especially.
However, there is also the need to take the right decision, so that measures taken would lead to permanent eradication of the multiplication of the virus.
The economic meltdown should therefore be seen as a risk of lockdown necessary to save lives and not as a threat to our lives like the Coronavirus
After all, Sustainable good health is better for us all than a temporary selfish satisfaction that will land us again into much more hardships sooner than later.
We can enjoy our wealth only when we are alive and healthy. Thetefore, I remain of the view that the FG shouldn’t succumb to the present pressures and manipulations of individuals and opportunists struggling to save their business from setbacks, but to throw the entire nation in shambles characteristic of mass deaths.
We call on the FG via the HUMANITARIAN Minister to EMULATE the BUA personal palliative distribution method in Kano to disburse what is collected or budgeted, to dampen the effects of economic risk.
For a successful DISBURSEMENT of palliatives, the FG must include the Leaderships of Mosques, Churches, local government chairmen, traditional rulers, Districts & ward heads, etc, in towns and villages in reaching out the poorest of the poor.
The FG as a matter of emergency should embark on massive FUMIGATION EXERCISES in cities, shopping malls, secretariats, cinemas , banks, markets, & other public places, to ensure that citizens around them are adequately safe from contacting the deadly virus.
I have also noticed some wonderful rehearsals a week ago, on how to convert some local fire fighting vehicles, police & military water tankers, etc. Into FUMIGATING TOOLS for purifying public buildings & streets. But till this moment, they have not been put into practice to increase the capacity to sanitize more spaces, roads, public places and other similar infrastructures. It is a matter of urgency for the FG to understand that those are issues that require very quick actions and not setting up endless committees that will take years to start their assignments properly. We actually don’t have that time!!
In fact, the FG as a matter of necessity should EQUALLY and very quickly start converting much more pick-up vans with portable water tanks on their trunks to increase the number of available and accessible sanitizing vehicles to fumigators.
I fully understand the pains we are all undergoing today, but quick careless decisions will cause much more deaths than the virus itself. That is why I opine that fellow NIGERIANS should exercise a little patience; even enduring the hunger and pains for a short period, while the right things are put in place very quickly once and for all to save lives permanently. Our organisation will align with State & FG to make sure that all available palliatives are also DISBURSED EQUALLY, FAIRLY, and JUDICIOUSLY.
The 1st world countries, especially the western world with all their sophisticated capacities and capabilities are still battling for their survival. We can’t therefore, afford to risk more loss of lives just to revive the economy at any cost to satisfy the few even when we know that such opening of businesses will CERTAINLY lead to the loss of further thousands of more lives. We better wait a week longer and save the lives of our people than ignoring NIGERIANS and opening businesses for the privileged few at their perils. That would amount to unimaginable gross irresponsibility and irresponsiveness towards Nigeria public.
LIVES FIRST; SURELY, COVID KILLS PRETTY FASTER AND MUCH MORE AGONISINGLY THAN HUNGER!!
